The Best Covid Articles from Left Wing Media Outlets
Covid Restrictions & Effects of Covid NPI's on Children: A Curated List
Our country is polarized about both Covid and the response to it. There’s a strong association between political leaning and which news source you listen to, which often influences one’s personal perspectives about Covid. There seems to be a prevailing perception that one side is all alarmism and panic, and the other is “it’s no big deal.” But are there certain issues that should cut between party & political lines? Certain things truly are a-political and not subject to opinion. Whether or not schools are high-risk environments is an epidemiological question, not a political one. Whether or not there is quantifiable economic and health consequences to Covid NPI’s is an economics question, not political one. These are critical issues that we need to discover the truth about eventually.
When we research online and scroll through our Social Media feeds, algorithms are doing a lot of the work with regard to choices about what we are getting exposed to. It takes effort to find perspectives that are different than your own.
Over the last 2 years I have collected & curated many articles from all sides of the political spectrum. The list below is from primarily left-leaning media outlets and some “center” outlets as well, if there still is such a thing. The collection below does not represent my personal views, but some of the best writing and thinking that I believe has been published in these outlets throughout the pandemic. My goal with this collection is to provide sources that agree on the same exact issues that the “other side” has emphasized throughout the pandemic, while not coming from the same bias or exhibiting the same tendency to “minimize” Covid.
I’ve organized by subject and source. New York Times, the Atlantic, Newsweek, & more. 32 Articles in total at time of this writing, and I will add to this list over time. Disclaimer: Many of these articles are behind a paywall. If you are a savvy internet user, it should not stop you ;-).
3/1/2022 Update: Added articles from SFGate, the Boston Globe, New York Magazine, USA Today- 37 Total.
